There Was A Time In My Business When I Believed Generosity Meant Saying Yes To Everything.

There was a time in my business when I believed generosity meant saying yes to everything.

Extra time to pay.
Discounting services.
Comping work when someone was struggling.

I thought I was being supportive.
But over time I realized something important:
those decisions were costing me far more than money.

They cost energy.
They cost clarity.
They quietly lowered the standards of my business.

And when standards drop, something subtle happens.

Clients stop seeing the true value of what you offer.
Boundaries become blurred.
Resentment begins to replace enthusiasm.

What I learned is that strong leaders don’t serve people by lowering their standards.
They serve people by holding them.

When clients invest fully, they show up differently.
They commit differently.
They respect the process and the transformation more deeply.

Now my business operates from a place of clarity and mutual respect.

Not because I care less.
But because I finally understood this truth:
Real leadership is not about rescuing people.
It’s about creating an environment where everyone rises to the standard of growth.
--------------
And in continued truth & transparency - periodically it has still happened - but nothing like I used to let it happen. And the more growth my company experiences - the less we WILL compromise our standards.
